Steve and Logan went grouse hunting this afternoon. When they went past the beaver pond Frankie smelled and flushed a female Malard. Steven shot it and then the retrieve. It was difficult but Frankie did it. Over logs,through weeds, and then the Duck got into a fork in a floating tree and Dove. It didn't stop Frankie. He dove right after it and retrieved it under water. Then back through all the stuff in the pond and delivered it to hand, STILL ALIVE. Frankie hasn't been duck hunting since he was about 2 yrs. old and he is 8 1/2 now but I guess instinct is bred into dogs. Sure do love the big hearts all my guys have. October - 2007 |
